Summary of report content

Healthwatch Barnet conducted an announced Enter and View visit to Athenaeum Residential Care Home on 31 May 2014. The team recorded their observations made throughout the visit and engaged with 6 residents, staff members and 3 relatives of the residents. Positive feedback from residents and their relatives was received. The team considered the home to be relaxed and friendly, and that residents were treated well. The report recommended that the home look into how to better engage residents with the activities on offer, display the food menu, ensure that all staff know their roles in the event of a fire evacuation and to further develop end of life care planning. The provider responded to the reports recommendations and reported that the points are now being acted upon.
