Every year we ask local Healthwatch to tell us what matters most to local people regarding health and social care. This year, mental health came out on top with 77 local Healthwatch identifying it as a priority.

This briefing shows how important it is that people are asked about their experiences of mental health services, and that their feedback is used to inform improvements.

It highlights examples of work local Healthwatch have done with mental health commissioners and providers to ensure that people receive the mental health support they need.

It also provides a useful insight into the current challenges people face in accessing the support they need.
