Summary of report content

Glenroyd care home is a residential care and nursing home in Blackpool which has a capacity of 74 residents and specialises in the support and nursing care of people with dementia. The visit was announced and was conducted on 12th August 2016, was arranged as part of Healthwatch Blackpool's enter and view schedule where 16 residents were spoken with to offer their views. The home has got 3 floors which houses residents together depending on the severity of their dementia (first floor housing residents requiring moderate supervision, the second floor housing residents with advanced dementia). Observation by the enter and view representatives reported that: The comments in general were positive with the residents happy with where they lived and the care they received. The only issues which appeared was with the lack of variety of food which was available along with one resident feeling that they required more activities to be introduced. Once contacted about these issues, the care home employed a new chef to improve the variety of food and they stated that they hope to employ an activities co-ordinator.
