Summary of report content

In August 2013, Healthwatch Barnet carried out an announced enter and view visit to Carlton Court Care Home, as part of a planned strategy to look at a range of care and residential homes within the London Borough of Barnet to obtain a better idea of the quality of care provided. The report concludes that Carlton Court is a good residential care home providing a generally competent standard of care for people with dementia, physical problems and those at the end of their life. However, at the time of the visit the Team did not observe the level of staffing mentioned by the Manager, and felt that the residents may not always be receiving the attention they could benefit from. Overall, representatives found most residents to be happy and well looked after in a home with clear and accountable policies and procedures. The report makes 6 recommendations and contains a response from the provider, addressing each recommendation and taking on board the suggestions.
