Summary of report content

Healthwatch Buckinghamshire carried a visit at Brook House. Brook House currently provides residential care for up to 35 people. We talked to 6 residents, 3 visitors and 2 members of staff. We observed a further 7 residents, 1 visitor and 3 staff. The overall findings from the visit includes: An easy going home where staff, visitors and residents seem comfortable with each other; a good range of activities inside and outside the home. The report includes 2 recommendations: ensures those who can hold them, are given hot drinks in china mugs / cups rather than plastic two handled beakers; encourages staff to involve residents who are mobile, including those who use walkers, in activities such as dancing, going for short walks in the garden, perhaps moving to a dining table to eat, to maintain muscle strength in their legs.
